On line prayer group for Marion women

If you want to be part of our on line prayer group, send an email to
marionwomensprayer-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Or go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/marionwomensprayer and click on "Join this group."

You can choose whether to receive every email directly as they come in, or to get them all in a disgest form to yoru email box once a week or so. We will meet in person for prayer once monthly (still deciding the details of that-- stay tuned), and will stay in touch by phone and email in between.

What is a Concert of Prayer?

The first thing you need to know about a Concert of Prayer is that you will not ever be asked to pray aloud when you don't want to. I know that is a big fear for folks. And please know that if you have that fear, that does not make you "unspiritual." It makes you normal! We had a conversation about that at my ministry blog. You can look into that by going to my website (www.prayinglife.org) and clicking on "blog."

It will be a worship experience that weaves together music and some guidance from me for private and corporate prayer using the tabernacle as a pattern. We'll all be doing the same thing, and you will be experiencing the amazing presence of the Living Jesus. It will not be a message or a meeting. It will be an experience.

Wednesday Evening Series

I will be using my Bible study, Live a Praying Life, as the basis for Wednesday night sessions. I will be doing a very abbreviated version. The book can be made available for purchase if anyone feels they want to go deeper.

There will be Q&A time each evening as time allows. Bring your questions with you. Asking the hard questions is how we get from spiritual baby food to spiritual meat!

We will start right on time each evening and I will let you out right on time each evening. Promise.

Laying a Foundation of Prayer

“Whatever God wants to do in our lives will begin with prayer,” says Marion-based author Jennifer Kennedy Dean. “That’s why spring revival preparation will have prayer as its cornerstone for Marion Baptist Church.”

Leading up to the May 3-6 revival, Marion Baptist Church will lay a strong foundation of prayer. “A successful revival will be measured in changed hearts and lives,” says Dr Mike Jones, pastor of Marion Baptist. “That is why prayer matters. Only God can change people. If people’s lives aren’t changed, then we didn’t have a revival. We just had a meeting.”

The prayer emphasis leading up to the coming revival is open to the community. “Revival is not church-bound,” says Jones. “Revival is about the community.” The church is inviting the community to three Wednesday nights of biblical teaching led by Jennifer Kennedy Dean. Dean will address the difficult questions about prayer and lay a solid scriptural basis. She will address the purpose of prayer, the promise of prayer, the process of prayer, and the practice of prayer. These three Wednesday night sessions will be held at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall area of Marion Baptist Church. The Wednesday nights will culminate in a Concert of Prayer on Friday May1 at 7:00 pm, leading into the revival.

“A Concert of Prayer is a corporate worship experience that blends worship through music and prayer. The prayer experience will be built around the pattern of tabernacle worship described in Scripture, “ explains Dean. “No one will be expected to pray aloud,” she adds.

“Giving up part of a Friday night to join your community in prayer sounds like a big ask,” says Dean. “But, if we want extraordinary power, then we need extraordinary prayer.”
